Cataño, Puerto Rico

Cataño is a town of around 30,000 inhabitants (2000 census). It is located across San Juan Bay from Old San Juan. A ferry transports passengers throughouat the day. Many people use the ferry as an economical way of experiencing San Juan Bay and watching the Old San Juan Bay coastline.

The Bacardi Rum factory is located in Cataño. The factory offers free tours of its facilities which include a tasting bar for its products.

The patron saint for Cataño is "Virgen del Carmen", celebrated on July 16.
