Child care centers should exhibit a license issued by ADFAN, Programa de Familias con Niños (formerly titled Departamento de la Familia), a Commonwealth government agency.
Day care centers are listed in the Yellow Pages under Cuidado Diurno
/ Centros. Pre-school centers are listed under “Kindergartens”.
Both lists are deceptively small in the San Juan Yellow Pages,
and even smaller in other directories. It seems that many of the
available centers do not advertise in the Yellow Pages. They seem to rely instead on word -of-mouth and regional advertising.
Fees are established by each center. Common fees are around $50 per
child per week with some of the meals included. Hours and services
vary at each center.
I would ask for references from other parents before entrusting my children to any such center.
