Geography

Puerto Rico is the smallest of what is known as the Greater Antilles, a group of four Caribbean Islands which also include Cuba, Hispaniola, and Jamaica. It is located roughly one thousand miles southeast of Miami, Florida. Puerto Rico is bordered in the north by the Atlantic Ocean and in the south by the Caribbean Sea.

The island measures roughly 35 miles wide and 100 miles long. Mountain ranges run east to west along the island, sloping north and south into coastal plains.
