Juana Díaz, Puerto Rico

WXPort
Juana Díaz is best known in Puerto Rico and other countries for its annual Festival de los Tres Reyes Magos". This tradition began in the year 1884. Today it represents Puerto Rico's greatest efforts at keeping alive the Latin tradition of the Three Wise Men against the strong competition of "Santa Claus".

Every year Los tres reyes (the three kings) come to Juana Diaz with their beautiful costumes and equally beautiful horses, spreading Nativity cheer wherever they and many loyal followers go.

In recent years, the three kings from Juana Díaz have visited many if not all towns and cities in Puerto Rico. They have also traveled as good will ambassadors to many other countries.

The patron saint for Juana Díaz is "San Ramón Nonato", celebrated on August 31. Population is estimated at 50,500 (2000 census).
