www.dollarman.com About Puerto Rico: Language |
|
Spanish is the language of the people of Puerto Rico. It is used for most purposes throughout the island. However, English-speaking visitors who travel all around the island in search of tourist attractions will generally find English-speaking personnel at most tourist facilities. Other languages are infrequent. English is taught as a secondary language in Puerto Rico's public school system. Some people improve their English language skills by private courses, further education or the practice of that language in work and other environments. Many private schools on the island feature an English program where all classes are conducted in English except for the Spanish class. Graduates of these schools are normally able to communicate fluently in both Spanish and English. See the section SPANISH (language) for a quick mini-course on Spanish pronunciation. Traffic signs are in Spanish. See our section on driving for a handy list of traffic signs in Spanish along with their corresponding English translation. If you cannot find the information you need, and we will try to help you find it. |
