Naranjito, Puerto Rico

Naranjito, el pueblo de los changos, is a small, growing town of around 30,000. Its claim to fame is most likely its volleyball team, Los Changos de Naranjito, many times leader in the sport in Puerto Rico.

Naranjito is located about 25 minutes north of Toa Alta on PR Road 165. Other neighbors include Bayamón 25 minutes away on PR Road 164 west and Barranquitas, close to an hour south on PR Road 152. Mudslides are frequent on all roads during heavy rains, which are also rather frequent.

Naranjito is a large producer of plantains which grow well in its steep, hilly terrain.

The patron saint for Naranjito is "San Migueel Arcángel ", celebrated on September 29.
