Rincón is a charming small town of 15,000 inhabitants. It is located on the northwestern part on the island, about twenty minutes from Aguadilla and some twenty minutes from Mayagüez, on PR 2, currently one of the best freeways on the island. Its excellent beaches bring people from all over the island and many tourists from abroad. The surf is said to be among the best for surfing sports.
The town of Rincón features a lookout area for whale-watchers. It is a frequently visited oceanside mini-park with free parking, cafeteria, souvenir shop and a few coin-operated telescopes. The park is open year-round. Admission is free.
World Masters Surfing Championship will take place from January 20 to January 28, 2007, with participants from 15 countries.
