TV sets prepared for the North American market will work well in Puerto Rico. There are several local channels, all in Spanish. Programming for some of the stations include some U.S.A. regular programs, such as Alf, Prince and The A-Team, dubbed into Spanish.

You can subscribe to cable TV, available in most areas, for access to several English-language stations which include ABC, CBS, NBC and several Turner stations. At an additional premium you can receive special programming channels like HBO, Showtime, Disney Channel and others. Cable TV of Greater San Juan covers the Greater Metropolitan Area, at telephone 809-250-7780. Check your telephone directories for cable companies outside this area. Cable TV is regulated by the Public Service Commission of Puerto Rico () at telephone number (787)756-1919.

Satellite TV service is also available.

An Emergency Broadcasting System is activated by the P.R. Civil Defense in the event of natural disasters and others emergencies to transmit official reports. The system utilizes most local TV and radio stations.

Television stations require licensing by the Federal Communications Commission.
