Toa Alta is a city of around 63,900 inhabitants (2000 census). It is located just off the de Diego expressway (PR road 22) and north on PR Road 165, some twenty-five minutes west of San Juan. Other neighboring communities include Dorado, Cataño and Toa Alta.
Located in one of the outer edges of the Greater San Juan metropolitan area, it has attracted new residents willing to commute daily to and from their jobs.
The town has also attracted many industrial concerns under the Puerto Rico manufacturing incentive programs.
The patron saint for Toa Alta is "San Fernando", celebrated on May 30th.
