Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico

Trujillo Alto has attracted many new residents from all around the San Juan metropolitan area. Real estate prices in the area have increased significantly. Municipal revenues have increased mainly from property taxes.

Rio Grande de Loiza flows through Trujillo Alto from the mountains in the south to lower grounds in the north. The river feeds Represa Carraizo to create the largest water reservoir near the metropolitan area.

Trujillo Alto is known for macabeo, the name given to a fritter made from grated green bananas, and which resembles the more popular alcapurria, made from grated green plantains.

The patron saint for Trujillo Alto is "La Santa Cruz", celebrated on May 3rd.
