Villalba is a town of approximately 25,200 (2000 census), located in the south-western of Puerto Rico.
Its neighbors include Orocovis to the north, Coamo to the east, and Juana Diaz west and south.
Villalba's Lago (lake) Toa Vaca supplies fresh water to most of the southern part of Puerto Rico. Lago Aceituna powers the Toro Negro hydroelectric plant, which supplies electric power to a large part of southern Puerto Rico.
Villalba's main crop is gandules, or pigeon peas. These are used for many typical Puerto Rican dishes such as Arroz con gandules.
The patron saint for Villalba is la Virgen del Carmen, celebrated on July 16.
