Manzanas Horneadas con canela
(Cinnamon baked apples)
Ingredients:
- 4 large ripe apples
- 2 tbsp. brown sugar
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 2 tbsp. butter
- 1/2 cup apple juice
Preparation:
Peel the apples. Core each apple carefully, so as to remove the center portion while leaving a cup-like fruit where you can add other ingredients.
Place apples upright in a shallow ovenproof dish. Pour 1/2 tablespoon sugar into cavity of each apple. Add 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg and 1/2 teaspoon butter into each apple.
Heat 1/2 cup apple juice just to boiling. Pour into dish, surrounding the apples.
Bake uncovered at 400 degrees for 50-60 minutes or until tender, basting occasionally with its own liquid.
